Our story

In 2001, Chikako Sasaki moved from Japan to New Zealand. The following year, she began serving coffee at local markets with a small roaster by her side.

In October 2010, she opened Crema Café in Rangiora, running it for 13 years with the support of the local community. During the café’s rebuild, she operated from a coffee cart for a year and a half before reopening in a brand-new space in August 2024.

Through every stage, one thing has remained the same: being a café loved by the community.

Our menu

At Crema, everything is handmade in-house. Our muffins and scones are our most loved favourites, baked fresh each morning.

We also serve desserts that pair beautifully with coffee, such as tiramisu and carrot cake, which are always popular with our customers.

Our Coffee beans

All of our coffee beans are 100% Arabica, sourced from trusted green bean importers in Auckland.

Because freshness is key, we roast in small batches using a 4kg direct-fire roaster and carefully manage both stock and roast levels. This ensures you always get the best, most flavourful beans.

Our signature Crema Blend, based on Colombian beans, delivers a smooth, well-balanced cup that’s loved by regulars. Alongside this, we rotate around six single origins—each showcasing the distinct character of its origin.
